Digital Product Manager - Retail

The Opportunity:

At Clarion Retail, we are seeking a Digital Product Manager to help us spearhead our new digital product team as we identify and develop opportunities, build digital solutions, and grow our product portfolio.

A little bit about us (and the problem our customers are facing):

Clarion Retail portfolio represents five market-leading tradeshows and exhibitions for the Retail sourcing industry. Due to COVID, we have been unable to bring our customers together under one roof to deliver the live experiences we are so famous for. Our shows bring together thousands of buyers and suppliers in the Home, Gift and Furniture markets for them to get inspired, showcase their product, connect and do business. Our exhibiting customers rely on the fact we can regularly deliver high volumes of quality buyers who would usually plan their buying activity around our tradeshows; at present they are struggling to find and discover new products, touch, feel and see them in person before placing an order.

 

The Candidate:

Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Digital Product Management. They must have a customer-first mindset, a strong understanding of research methods and the ability to develop data pipelines that can be used to track, analyze, and improve our digital product. This role requires a candidate with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills as you'll be working with a team to interpret large amounts of data whilst inputting to critical cross-functional strategies that support portfolio goals. This is a customer centric role, working to translate the needs of the customer into online business opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive product strategies and long term vision to build best in class digital products that are market-leading, challenging and push boundaries for digital in Clarion as a whole
  • Conduct user research and usability studies, collaborating with designers, technology vendors/ developers and data team from end to end of the process
  • Craft a product vision based on voice of the customer (short to long term) and convert that into a concrete strategy for product or feature development
  • Participate in market research, validation, and whitespace analysis to identify new opportunities for new and existing features and functionalities
  • Partner with business owners and other product teams to build product roadmaps that will be incorporated in to the broader company product portfolio plan
  • Develop and implement data pipelines for the Retail portfolio, working in collaboration with our ‘Marketing Operations’ roles and central data team
  • Evaluate, analyse, and understand the voice of the customer through a variety of data sources
  • Support our Portfolio Director in linking cross-functional targets and KPIs to deliver required digital outcomes
  • Support a network of other portfolio Digital Product Managers to ideate, drive performance, share cross-industry learnings for ultimate customer success

 

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Manage the product roadmap and backlog for all digital products
  • Oversee and manage requirements discovery, solution design, user story writing, feature development, and user acceptance testing, in collaboration with technology vendor
  • Partner with the Executive teams to identify key capabilities needed as well as identifying potential issues
  • Partner with cross functional teams regularly to ensure alignment on feature development and prioritisation
  • Partner with Technology vendor(s) and central IT to manage the roadmap and backlog to ensure that all capabilities are delivered on time and per expectation
  • Work with product marketing to drive persona development, customer positioning and messaging to ensure differentiation from competitors
  • Monitor and evaluate product performance to ensure constant product iteration and improvements
  • Maintain a constant eye on the market and customers, running constant research processes and status testing on customer sentiment 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Ability to connect multiple cross-functional inputs and dependencies
  • Strong capability to influence across junior and senior roles in the organisation
  • Resilient approach to hypothesis testing and a strong data-curious mind-set
  • An ability to think strategically, while having the skills to manage the small details that can ensure results
  • Extensive experience in digital product management or similar
  • Strong analytical, prioritisation, and negotiating skills
  • Usability and customer-focused design experience is a plus
  • Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems

Preferred but not essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Masters degree
  • Capabilities with data visualisation software
