Clarion Events Group Half-year review – 31st July 2020
Clarion Events Group Half-year review – 31st July 2020
The Clarion Events Group (“the Group”) provides its half-year update for the 6 months ending 31st July 2020.
Trading update
- Revenue has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic which was declared on 12th March 2020.
- No events traded between the middle of March and the end of August 2020, leading to a significant fall in revenue.
Cost control
- We carefully managed our cost base and cashflows throughout the period, and into the second half of the year.
- We continue to collect funds for future events.
Digital and looking forward
- Digital alternatives have been delivered for multiple brands across the Group and we are beginning to see good levels of monetisation.
- Clarion has been a key contributor to developing The All Secure Standards, under which the UK exhibition industry will operate once reopened.
- Our Chinese business has been leading the return of live events, with two events successfully held in September 2020.
- As we come out of this extremely difficult period, we are confident that the worldwide demand for our live events remains.
- We are still well placed to deliver exceptional customer outcomes and experiences, alongside longer-term value creation.
